It looks like one end and the different type of wraper on the end is for a flavor hint ? I like to blend in segments on fillers to change to mood of the stick. Mad- Your sticks are smooth like webs. Mine are more like labrador. LOL

Nice Dave. Are they capped both ends or just decorated?

I triple capped them on the top end, and decided to put a decorative foot on the other end. I've been finding that they end up burning even, a little better this way (in case of improperly lit foot)

Very nice rolling Dave ! Are you drying them this way ? Jan.

Why, yes I am, over a bed of dry scrap leaves. It seems to work well. I saw someone else do it on this thread a few months ago, and decided to copy them, since it looked like such a good idea. I really loved your Cigar art, and will try and add something to a blend like this in the future.

Definitely a flavor hint, it'll help show off different moods of the filler, or at least that's what I'm hoping. I made a couple a while back called Yellow Jacket, where I took Oriental Prelep yellow leaves and put stripes with the yellow and black leaves. It was definitely interesting!

Rolled 2 puros today.
Filler : 2x Nic Ligero + 1 Paraguayan Flojo seco + 1 Criollo 98 seco
Binder + wrapper : Pennsylvania Oscuro.
I had problems with that Penn. wrapper. The leave is a bit 3D at the height of the veins.
Today I gave it another try.
I changed 2 things : I misted the wrapper leaves on both sides and put them in a Tupperware box for a few hours. They came out very soft and evenly moist.
The other thing i did was besides pulling a bit on the cigar while wrapping, better spreading the leave in the width, especially when reaching the cigar with a nerve.
The last one was my best rolled by far.
It is a 52 gauge, 6" long.

I wanted a quick smoke with my morning coffee, but didn't want to break in to my still drying cigars, so I rolled this out of short filler in a wrapper sorted for a bag of dark air 2012. I used deluxstogies' method found here: http://fairtradetobacco.com/threads/3385-Rolling-a-Nice-Cigar-from-Short-Scrap

Works great for a quick smoke when you don't have time to really enjoy a long smoking session and a great way to use the filler scrap up.

Beauty is only skin deep. Some of my best smokes have been made from short scraps.

After rolling a cigar with long filler, I sort my scraps into long pieces (nearly all wrapper pieces) and short stuff (nearly all filler). The latter is just scraped off the board into a gallon Ziplock. That Ziplock of short scrap is an uber blend of all of my filler blending, averaged over several months. So, although hand-rolling with short scrap can be a tricky process, the cigar that it produces is usually a superb smoke. For me, the challenge is to be willing to sacrifice a perfectly nice wrapper for wrapping a "mere" scrap stogie. When I do, I'm a happy smoker.

Great looking sticks Dave. Like the caps especially. Where did you get the chaveta knife?

It's actually a Skinning knife I've had for a while. I had a kitchen cutlery and knife business several years ago that we had, more of an excuse for me to collect, but it was very profitable.

Well, I'm still not ready for prime time. I rolled about seven sticks Sunday with the Maduro azacado blend. I think I got greedy with the larger ring of about 58 and varied between 5" to 6.5". Most of the blend I went with in some variations went 2 leaf dom binder 1 Liga nic, 1 flojo, double oscurro wrapper and the wrapper that came with the blend.
What a power house, whew! About two inches down I had to set it down. Will definitely adjust. The ones I rolled in succession were tamed as I went along so hopefully the next ones won't blow my head off.

The draw was about how I like it, on the verge of tight. Hopefully they will become more pretty as I advance (can't get much worse). I have a new found respect for the pros now, even more so than before.

That looks like a pretty solid hunk. Nicely done. Two ligero leaves in a single cigar is way over my head. If you like fat cigars (as I do), but are not fond of th feel of a fat cigar in your mouth, you can create a gentle taper for the length of the cigar, so that the head is more comfortable.

One other note. It appears that you finished your roll at the end that you lit. If you start the roll at the foot, and roll toward the head, the wrapper is less likely to try to unwrap itself while burning.
