Here is about my 8th cigar that I've rolled. Didn't want to show off the first ones because, well...I didn't want everyone screaming "my eyes!!!" It does take a couple rolls to get it down, that's for sure. First one that was rolled was so loose, you could use it as a drinking straw. I also got to try out my new cigar mold I received today!

That looks pretty decent. I would suggest that you hand-roll cigars, without a mold, until you have a good feel for density and draw. Then you can begin to use a mold for the cosmetic benefit.

Just got a shipment of some tobacco from Don. This guy was a blend of piloto cubano seco, criollo viso and seco, and dom ligerio. Double binder was seco Banda, wrapper was Havana 2000. Absolutely delicious blend, tasted similar to a gurkha. I feel like I'm still missing something though. I'm going to maybe add another ligerio leaf. Size is Churchill.

What you're missing is, it has to go out three times, and then split open about a third way down.

Don't ask me... Gurkha rollers know how to make that happen.

Today’s batch: “Isabella,” named after Isabella Madrid, my favorite Colombian woman on Instagram. These are my first cigars with Colombian tobacco. Wrapper: Ecuador. Binder: double Cameroon. Filler: Dominican, Colombian, and Nicaraguan. I think these are my first five-country sticks. They are 38x7″, making them either panatelas or “No. 1s.”

Nice sticks Waikikigun. I guess it's an optical delusion, but they look longer than seven inches. Good job.

Perhaps I'll try again in the near future

I know that it doesn't look spectacular, I rolled it in about 2 minutes but for me it is a very special cigar, the very first cigar from my very first grow last year.
I was in the storage room getting stuff for the wife when I saw my stored boxes of dried leaf and on a whim I grabbed whatever was in my first box which had a combination of Pa Red Ligero and Scantic leaf. I never got around to killing my leaf so I didn't expect anything good to come out of it. I didn't notice any tobacco smell just sweet aroma and hesitated a bit before deciding to roll a quick one.

The first few draws were bitter and disappointing and smoke at times smelled like burning paper but as it got closer to the half way point I tasted more sweetness and floral notes. It tasted better than I expected but still harsh/strong and it being all Ligero filler was probably a factor.

When I have time I'll roll another with a different blend and see how that one turns out. I suspected the leaf needs more time and or a good kilning.

Congrats on your first home grown smoke. Nice looking roll.

Make sure to keep the leaf slightly moist while in storage. Natural aging stops when the leaf is totally dry.
