I decided to do a rolling session al fresco today. Took nine dolls from a previous night’s bunching and wrapped half in Dominican and half in rosado wrappers. Temp was 96F and 29% humidity. I had to keep misting the leaves with water the whole time, but I finished them all without too much hassle. They are definitely not as pretty as my usual standard, but they will taste great. Pelo d’Oro seco and Ligero, CV corojo viso, CV Black Ligero, double Sumatra binder.

@GreenDragon, what dpo you think of that Pelo de Oro ligero? I favor mild and mellow type blends, so I rarely use a ligero. But that P de O is sublimely mild... is the ligero similarly mild as well? I might take a flyer on some.

I smoked two tonight. The first was #5 a 50/50 blend of seco from WLT. It burned like a torch with little discernible flavor and I bailed on it half way through. The second was a reconstruct from what would've been roll #2 that I re-rolled this afternoon. The reconstruct had the smallest strip of Nicaraguan ligero, and that mere strip of leaf made ALL the difference - caramel sweetness with a cherry aroma. I managed to get the draw I wanted, though it went a tad mushy on the last 1/4. Can't wait to roll more!

For your 50/50 blend the case was probably off a bit. I noticed that with a few of mine. WLT seemed to ship a bit on the dry side for a few of my leaves in the kit I ordered, probably helps prevent mold anyway. Try rehydrating a bit with a light misting of water and putting the leaves you plan to use in a separate plastic bag for about 10 minutes before you roll. If you over do on the remoisturizing just let them sit for a few days in a humidor after rolling before you smoke them. The proper case will make a big difference in how they burn as well the flavor.

Yep. In a dm convo on one of my blends, @waikikigun said something to the effect of: an overdose of seco generally does not produce good results. Have found he's correct on that. There are a few exceptions, nic habano seco being one.

I said like a torch. What I meant was that it burned quickly and very well. I didn't realize how much flavor depends on ligero.

No worries. That was a good looking stick, nice work! Yeah, throw some ligero in there, and maybe a touch of viso, can easily recommend the corojo ligero from WLT: it's great. Roll on!

Good plan. Did you use the fillers as binder and wrapper too?
Yes, all were made from about half a leaf each including the wrapper. I skipped a binder and was a little impatient getting the "wrapper" portion to the proper case, which is why the first two look pretty rough. Probably would have been easier just to toss a little in a pipe, but it just wouldn't have been as much fun.

This was a better idea. The pipe changes it a lot.
