from this batch of variances in the stuff that when the search for some kind of Amazonian blend kits back when that was a thing. it was so firm i thought the dam thing would be a bust. tight draw, split shoulder, lit while driving and just would not disappoint after it got through the lighting and slit shoulder seal up. would have been an easy 2hr + toro. slow, lots of smoke, turned into this consistent thing that was between fckin nice and, really fckin nice. had to take a pic. (first phone cam pic) this is right after the first ashing. perfect burn ash coning.

The last two photos are handsome cigars. I could swear those two pics weren't there the last time I looked. Glad they made it.

Here's another example of the gorgeous Nostrano del Brenta wrapper. The flash makes it look more brown and less black than it actually is. Either way, it is a fun wrapper to work with. It's soft and stretchy, and always seems to leave a sheen. It was rolled about 30 minutes ago, so it isn't even fully dried.

Binder is WLT PA Binder, with a filler of WLT PA Binder and Paraguay Flojo viso.

I'll smoke some, gift some. usually I will roll with the intention to age them. I will roll and smoke before I roll a bunch to get a sense of what I have in mind.

How is the WLT Habano 2000 Wrapper Feeling After a 1 Month Vacation?

Webmost's H2K wrapper (5 hands of it) went into my kiln a month ago, and came out today. I swiped 2 leaves for "testing," and bagged and boxed the rest, for shipment back to Delaware.

The hands of leaf still smelled wonderful. The wrapper shown on the cigar tastes less earthy than prior to kilning. I also have the impression that it is not quite as stretchy as it was before. But this is just half of a random leaf, and a smaller one, at that.

The cigar shown is filled with Long Red and a smattering of WLT Nicaragua Habano ligero. Of note is the fact that the binder is a double binder of fairly damp Criollo (mine). Also, it's been raining all day, and the relative humidity is about 90%--so just like Delaware, only quieter. Freshly rolled, damp binder, no rest or drying, horrid humidity --> excellent burn. But a single cigar cannot be the basis of a generalization.

I will be interested in webmost's impression of whether the H2K leaf has changed from the added month of kilning. [At the very least, all the wonderful aroma coming from my kiln all month volatilized from the leaf.]

Baldió Vera produced a full-size plant with large leaves. It looked very much like a white-stem burley, with pale stalks and veins, and a quick color-cure to a light golden brown.

It may be a burley relative, but grown in isolation for a half-millennium in Spain's Extremadura, it just doesn't say, "burley," to my taste buds and nose. It's actually fairly mild, with a slight pepper edge. It seems far more like a cigarette tobacco than a cigar variety. It also may do well in a pipe.

This cigar is enjoyable enough, but not great. If anything, it reminds me of the subdued, neutral tasting Oriental, Mutki.

The color of this wrapper is more of a dull cafe-au-lait, rather than the color captured by the camera--lighter and less red than the first image; darker than the second. I tried to correct the color in Photoshop, but failed.

When I returned from handball, Bob's kilned H2k (kH2k) lay in the foyer.

The pungent raisin odor has been replaced by char. As you suggest, not much stretch. But lays flat enough easily enough. In perfect condition for immediate use.

So I immediately used it. Rolled half leaf San V ligero, half leaf Criollo ligero, two Hond viso, Dom binder, wrapped with kH2k. Came out way too fat and loose; so I tossed that and rolled another, longer, minus half a leaf viso. The kH2k was super easy to work with. Laid flat, cut straight, looked great, Burnt it on the porch after dinner.

This kH2k canoed end to end. Had to trim off the end of the canoe off several times. Tried turning it canoe side down, then up -- no joy. Had to hit it pretty hard, too. I'm a set it down & rest it kind of smoker. Not with this.

I don't think that was the blend for this wrapper. I'll roll a couple more tonight with piloto inside. Have not decided what binder. PA might do. Verdict is out.

I've got "board game" priority mail boxes on order from USPS. I feel like mailing out baccy once they arrive. Lookin for a pretext. Who'd make good cannon fodder?

I'm up way too early today. I rolled this at 5:45 am. Don't ask what's in this cigar. I don't remember. The wrapper is Ecuador CT Shade. The coffee is strong.
