The leaves arrive in perfect case for rolling a cigar. Rolled a cigar from half ligero leaf and a besuki leaf for wrappers and binder. The ligero is very big, it only take half to make this stick.

Very nice taste. The taste is different from my homegrown. Plenty of nic though. Finish this cigar in 45 minutes and had to rest for a while. The taste of the cigar is nothing like many over the counter cigar I tasted. It definitely has premium quality taste.

Tutu offer me this package when I told him I never know real commercial tobacco to compare my crop to. So now I have a benchmark on how to grow my own tobacco. Hopefully my next grow will get to this quality. Thank you very much

Rolled and smoked this stick today. 1/4 leaf corojo ligero which make up half of the stick, and add half of the stick with my homegrown besuki leaves. Wrapped and binded with besuki wrapper.

Nice raisin smell unsmoked. A very full flavor smoke, turned me green when finished though. Seriously, I have been smoking for more than 10 years, this is the first time I feel my world spinning and nausea from nicotine. I thought adding my homegrown leaves will tame it a bit, but I was wrong. Nice smokes but will lower the amount of ligero leaves after this. Had to lay down for half an hour after smoking.

Marc how do you always get such a beautiful light color out of Corojo Oscuro wrapper?
I can't even get the darn stuff to burn!

IMG_0021.jpgIMG_0018.jpgIMG_0020.jpgLatest batch of "Free State Cigars" rolled in Lawrence, KS. Gave a live demonstration of cigar rolling at my local distillery this weekend and "gave" out tons of these for $7 "tips" (ahem...for any ATF agents patrolling please note tips are for value of my entertainment only:)

I'm not sure it's something I get out of it.. With a quick search, Corojo Oscuro is kinda light in color out there. which makes me think it is not a reference to color in this leaf. I thought it meant darker then maduro or, black. The commercial cigar realm, (like a lot of realms) can get interesting with terminology. Case in point, we say case to mean moister in the leaf.
At first I thought that the WLT leaf name offered might refer to a thicker more robust leaf needed for the further fermenting / ripening for maduro and oscuro colors. Not so much now. Some I find thick enough, most are not. there are other oscuro names that are not so dark.. ( oscuro natural ) .. maybe just another name for distinction?
I easily can get any leaf not to burn too.

First attempt on triple cap.

Different wrapper, same filler. A bit of Corojo ligero and Little Dutch seco filler. Brazilian Sumatra wrapper and Besuki Wrapper. The Brazilian Sumatra wrapper is very thin, stretches well. Tutu said it is from 2011 grow. The darker one is Besuki. It is darker than the last Besuki Tutu send me. I also noticed that it is much stronger in smell, but the size is smaller than besuki he send me earlier.

Thanks, on these it is Virginia 603. I do not have so much to choose from now, next year I´m going to have better "cigar seeds". :)
