Do you use a different size of cap for differing ring gauges?7.5 x 42 lancero / corona ultra.
Yes. Always going for 3/8 inch total height of the three caps, divided into 1/8 inch each. So the top cap viewed from the side is 1/8 inch height. So I try to cut a cap that'll do that for the given gauge.Do you use a different size of cap for differing ring gauges?
While that seems obsessive, your cigars are consistently beautiful. That lancero displays a character that reminds me of the superb craftsmanship of Flor de A. Allones cigars--serious cigars made right.Always going for 3/8 inch total height of the...
Thank you. Are you free hand cutting the final circular one, or do you use a tool? What diameter?Yes. Always going for 3/8 inch total height of the three caps, divided into 1/8 inch each. Sometimes I freehand the cut with the chaveta, but more often I use one of my two cutters, which are 42 and 50. With those two I can cut pretty much all the diameters just by expanding or contracting the roll of the cutting edge along a circular-ish path.Thank you. It was. But it moved around with the date of its latest post. I've now "stuck" the thread. So it should be quite easy to locate it near the top of How To Roll Cigars.it's not listed there.
Pretty cool, regardless.First and probably last time I try this shape. Even using a mold it's a bit beyond my current skill level. Should be smokable, ugly tho. If anyone is looking for a 4 3/4 X 60 mold in this perfecto shape I'm probably not going to use mine again haha

Here's one thread on wrapping a figurado. There are others. Once you figure out the trick, it becomes far easier.

For sure the hardest shape to learn, imho. A real joy to hold in the hand, tho...I watched a video on YouTube by bliss cigar company (who is Waikikigun here I think) on how to do the binder and wrapper. It worked well but I think I'd just rather stick to the parejo. Very helpful video tho, I'd have had no idea without it.
