This was a three headed smoke: unlit it looks and smells like a cigar dipped in clover honey. Lit, it tastes like a strong sweet VA cigarette without the paper, and also a little like good VA in briar pipe. Sweet buttery sugar through the mid. The butter surprised me. Seemed immature, like it needed more days/months/years to dry down compared to cigar tobaccos. Towards the end it tasted like proper pipe tobacco with a hint of the characteristic VA bite, but much more soft and velvety.

I don't know what to think of it: the juxtapositions of flavor and form are messing with my senses. I think I'd rather just shred red VA and smoke it in a pipe or cigarette.

Interesting experiment, hope it helps someone.

~For the record, sorted through a bit to find half leaves suitable for single binder and wrapper, filler was shredded as would for pipe or cig, and rolled same way as a short scrap filler cigar. Draw was good, wrapper had somewhat erratic burn~

It ain't nothing to look at, but it was a success. This was my third attempt to roll some lugs for fun and this time it smoked. I borrowed a wrapper from a Backwoods Original which was all I could taste. Good draw, if loose, and it burned FAST. Looking forward to rolling more this winter. IMAG1560_1.jpg

The Olor mud lugs were hanging in my enclosed back porch for 6½ years. These are not lugs, which always make great seco leaf. These are the dirty, beat-up leaves growing just above the mud. This winter, I finally decided to kiln them, rather than toss them out. After two months in the kiln, and then several more months of neglect, I decided to see what they really taste like.

Filler of all Olor would usually be way too intense, with a substantial nicotine hit. Not so with the mud lugs. While they still carry a mild Olor aroma and taste, they are like little lambs. Ecuador Sumatra is one of my favorite wrappers, mostly because it is relatively flavor neutral, thin as tissue, has an excellent burn, and does really well with stronger fillers. So the main body of flavor here is from the Nicaragua Habano viso binder, which was actually a scrap.

The burn is excellent, the aroma mild and enjoyable, and the nicotine strength in the mild-to-medium range. The kitchen floor, where I sat and stemmed the Olor mud lugs is still waiting for me to sweep away the fine shower of dust.
