Well last night I had only one focus, create a tight bunch and a consistent ring guage for the whole cigar. The wrapper wasn't cased as well and left some unattractive traits. All the sticks are a progression in my learning The two with Connecticut Shade wrappers to the far end have a nice draw and I have used only paper wraps. No molds.20201227_104509.jpg Enjoy

Nicely done! I have yet to use a mold as I learned that you can get some excellent results rolling freehand using paper molds. You can even make perfectos with no mold if you have the patience, and the rectitude one can achieve with parejos of any gauge still amazes me.

It is the cigars that are perfect, and are rectified. You are still an imperfecto.

My first two rolled cigars. Whole Leaf Tobacco's Oscura Y Rico kit. Ecuador Maduro Wrapper (kit also came with a Nicaragua Rosada Wrapper too for some reason).

Left to Right: E.P. Carrillo Seleccion Oscuro Especial No.6 (Toro 6"x52) for my target.
First roll, no mold. Wrapper wasn't damp enough (issues, a few holes) and I didn't roll the binder tight enough. Resulting in a looser stick.
Second roll, no mold. Wrapper was better moistened, tighter binder wrap. I wasn't going to make a second one but wanted to redeem myself in my own eyes at least.

Looking forward to trying them out over the next few days!

A big thanks to the folks who helped me on my first post here about blending. While many great videos exist, I have to give credit to Robert Davis' "How to Roll your First Cigar" which was so enjoyable to watch, it got me to ask the wife for a kit.

Wonderful looking first rolls! Wish mine had been anywhere near as good.

Yeah, Don shoots out samples for fun.

Don't call me "Mister" Davis. Makes me sound like someone's high school dean. Shudder.

David: I toted your package to the post office yesterday morning, but they still have it down as "Pre-Shipment", so they haven't even scanned it yet! I hope they don't bork this up. I have at least a a dozen PriorityMail packages out there still slow-walking thru their system. Right now, USPS sucks drippy donkey dongs. They had an opportunity to step up to the plate, but they would rather make excuses.

I am very excited, and yes I agree, USPS is similar to a dirty loop of soiled clothes. They are leaving a sour taste in many businesses and yet there are not many options...

Webmost's post will be kept close by as he has created a great tutorial and awesome reference.

Better?

I'll jump in here and say those are nice looking caps for a first rolling session. What did you use to cut them?

Thanks! Caps were from a 1" brass pipe fitting. The second stick I didn't get a good end on the wrapper, the cap was barely holding on for dear life and and tried to cut a flag. Not a skill I was looking forward to start practicing so soon, but it wasn't as hard as I had feared. Then the cap again with the 1" fitting.
