Re: want to roll a cigar like the big boys do.

I posted this cigar rolling venture to help don, I am not a cigar smoker by any means. But I will order some leaf if I can figure out how to roll it. Change of venue?

New blend with the Corojo oscuro, this time with a Sumatran binder. Fillers are .5 PCS, .5 Nica Habano seco, 1 Criollo 98 seco, and .5 Criollo 98 viso.

As you might know, capping with this wrapper can be some tricky shiz. Seemed like the "triple-stinger" combo was called for here, and it seemed to work.

Waikikigun I don't know if you have smoked any cigars with the Corojo Oscuro wrapper yet. But if you have can you give me a taste profile on that wrapper.
I've yet to try any, but I do love Oscoro wrappers and wonder if I would enjoy that one.
Your cigars look well beyond the usual learning curve. They have all looked great, and I bet they taste and burn great also.
Keep rolling and enjoy.

Hi, cG. Thanks a lot. Yeah in fact I've smoked a ton of it because I did 20 test blends right off the bat. Didn't give them much time to age--a few days--but two of the blends were sensational.

I'd say the profile is "spicy."

And see my posts #34 and #37 here:

Notice that I used a double Habano seco binder in those best blends, because I was interested in a nearly-puro Nicaraguan stick. Since Don doesn't carry any of that leaf in a binder format it doesn't work great for his kits, so I am trying to find great blends with his "binder" leafs, too. Hence the Sumatra in these guys.

They look pretty reasonable, J2. Using a cigar guillotine (or a fancy, expensive tuck cutter) to cut the foot, you will often need to cut off more than you'd like to--but just feel for the first firm, solid point, and cut there. They will look better and light-up better.

Yep, J2 those all look great. I'd be happy and proud to smoke any one of them.

Keep it up.

j2 you should have seen my first 50 back woods imposters. they smoked great (mostly) but didn't look to good. my cigars are getting a little better but still are not pretty compared to some of the talented torcedors that post here. i mostly roll cigars to enjoy while fishing or relaxing with a burbon in the great outdoors. i will never be a cigar doll with my looks or talent.
