(maybe)pics of my latest ...I must say I like the selection of leaf. I used AZDaves suggestion for the blend which was 2 piloto cubano ,1 Nic Habano ,1/2 mata fina,1 criollo '98, Dom binder, and the variety of wrappers which consisted of Oscuro,Fire Cured,RedTipBurley and Bezuki. What I'm not so sure I like which may be my own fault or just the leaves I chose for wrapper weren't supposed to be handled so much . I ended up with a lot of tiny holes in the RedTip Burley ,only used one leaf for wrapper and the rest look shot holed. I REALLY like the Bezuki and Oscuro for wrapper, very nice thin leaf, smooths out a head and cap nicely. Jury is still out on the Fire Cured. It looks nice on the straights but the head and cap ,its just too thick of a leaf to smooth out .

I did find out that when I take a 7 inch by 1 inch diameter dowel that I use for when I make my leather cigar cases and use it as a rolling pin to roll the wrapper leaf. Takes the curl out and flattens the veins . I'm anxious to see how they look once they dry a little. I tried my best to not case the binder and wrapper as much as I did on my first batch.

I got fancy with some band art ...I actually made the design using a cigar band design site , and was able to save the sample as a sheet. This I printed out on a master sheet and will print copies as I need. The various blend/names I will just print out or hand write and add to the foot like I did here.

@Smokin Harley, Very fine sticks. I really like the color of that Red Tip wrapped one but the Oscuro wrapped one is calling my name.

Still got a ways to go. I think they will look much better once I get a mold, label, and cut them all to a predetermined length... Still havent found just the blend that I want, though...

Think about doing a video of your doing your Triple Caps; a lot of the video's around go too fast and I suspect a lot of us newbies would benefit from seeing your method. I am pretty well satisfied with my rolling but are struggling with the Triple Cap; actually, it the second of the three that give me problems.

my wife had her work days this week switched so we took a "date day" yesterday. Went out to the movies and saw American Sniper , very intense movie , we really like to see the true story based movies..anyway . When we got out of the theater we had gotten some snow so when we got home ,I grabbed the third from left cigar in the pic, the shorter of the Bezuki wrapped sticks to puff on as I shoveled snow. I have to thank AZDave once more not only for the trade deal but for suggesting the blend. I will keep that blend as a staple in my box as long as I can. Very nice flavors- earthy, the light hint of chocolate, creaminess, slight cinnamon ,and at a couple surprising moments mid stick I got a slight taste of roasted peanut . After I finished shoveling snow ,my wife was still making dinner so I just sat in my chair in the garage and finished it , took me the most part of an hour altogether, only had two slight touchups with the torch, but good smoke ,good flavor. I am saving the other stick of the same blend/wrapper for warmer weather so then it will get a chance to age too. Meanwhile, I plan on making a few more just like it.

Bezuki wrapper

I like the way the Bezuki wraps , just very thin and light yet very strong and stretchy ,seams all but disappear.
